Washington chapter

Two seasons, an improbable comeback and an ending very different from Chicago. This page organizes the complete chapter instead of stopping the clock in November 2001.

2001-02 · the comeback

At 38, Jordan returned after three seasons away and averaged 22.9 points in 60 games during 2001-02.

Team record

Washington did not reach the playoffs in either Jordan season. There is no need to manufacture a postseason chapter that never happened; the regular-season return already has enough material.

2001 archive

The original reports from 2001 remain available in News · 2001 Archive and in Weekly column. The recap no longer pretends November 2001 is 'current news', because that would be asking too much even of this site.

Sources and criteria

The chronology is based on the official season record and contemporary game logs. The original site's daily notes are kept as an archive, but dates and results are corrected when necessary.
