A record does not mean forever

Some records age, some are broken and others need context. Chicago's 72-10 record, for example, was historic in 1996 and remained the NBA record until Golden State finished 73-9 in 2016. The achievement did not become smaller; the label simply changed.

Playoffs and Finals

Jordan still owns one of the most famous playoff scoring performances: 63 points against Boston in 1986. His career playoff scoring average and six Finals MVP awards also remain among the defining numbers of his postseason record.
