This page does not try to turn the site into a current-news feed. It simply closes the timeline with a few durable milestones from the years after Jordan's playing career. Twenty-five years of pending updates would be a slightly ambitious backlog.
After playing
In 2009, Michael Jordan entered the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. By then his place in basketball history needed little explanation; the induction simply gave an official frame to a career that had already become a reference point for the sport.
His influence went far beyond results. The number 23, the silhouette in the Jumpman logo, the shoes and even certain gestures became part of global sports culture. Few athletes managed to make their image recognizable even to people who never followed the NBA closely.
Charlotte
His business career also included an important NBA chapter. He was majority owner of Charlotte from 2010, and in August 2023 the sale of his controlling stake to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall was completed. Jordan remained a minority shareholder after the transaction.
